Verizon to offer integrated video service
.
Verizon Wireless is not just a mobile communications company, but for their wireless customers, FiOS customers and cable partners, they will be on the receiving end of an integrated video service this coming holiday season. That is what Wall Street Journal reported, claiming that such enticing nuggets of information comes from Verizon’s chief executive officer himself, Lowell McAdam. McAdam said, “Technically, I think we could have something out that would be the beginnings of an integrated offering in time for the holidays.” When approached, a Verizon spokesman did not comment, but remained silent on the situation.
It seems that Verizon is working alongside TV programmers in the course of preparing for the service, never mind that simultaneously, Verizon is seeking out U.S. government approval for its agreement with the cable operators. Verizon hopes to purchase the required spectrum for approximately $3.9 billion from cable operators such as Comcast Corp and Time Warner Cable, and this deal will also involve cable companies setting up reseller agreements with Verizon in a joint venture. Looks like the eternal battle for your living room attention continues…
