MOG is finally releasing a native app for Windows desktop users. The popular music streaming service has long had apps for OS X, iOS, and Android, but Windows users have had to rely on accessing the player via the web browser. The announcement comes just as the company is in the spotlight for a possible merge with HTC and Beats Audio.

The MOG for Windows app has an interface similar to its browser-based version but with the extra features that have been available to the Mac version. It has built-in support for AirPlay that lets you stream music to any AirPlay-capable speaker and it can play native 320kbps audio, which MOG claims is the highest of any music service. The Windows version doesn’t support the use of a remote control.

Recent reports have suggested a potential acquisition of MOG by Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC, which has already invested and partnered with Beats Audio for its smartphones. This news has helped MOG steal some of the spotlight from rival music service Spotify and may help it gain more traction. However, no official announcements have been made yet.
