Sony Xperia S now really “shipping globally”
Already available in the UK since a few weeks ago, Sony’s Xperia S Android smartphone is now “shipping globally”, the company has announced. And it’s really shipping this time, not like back in February.
Sony doesn’t provide more details on this, simply saying that it’s “giving local operators the chance to tell you about specific availability and pricing in individual markets.” In other words, if you want an Xperia S you can now start looking for it in your own country (except the US, where the handset will most likely not be released; but you’ll have AT&T’s Xperia Ion there).
Unlike the Xperia Neo L (officially announced yesterday with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board), the Xperia S is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Sure enough, an update to ICS is on its way, and should be ready before mid 2012.
