For whatever reason, we envision the "god of war" being bigger than 15.6 inches, but let's not fault MSI for being excited about its new GT685 gaming laptop and calling it such. With a traditional screen size in tow, the GT685 has the chops to be a desktop replacement, and could even be a desktop killer depending on how it's spec'd out. Let's have a look at what it brings to the table.

The GT685 sports an Intel Core i7 2630QM processor (2GHz, 6MB cache), which you can surround with up to 32GB of DDR3 system memory via four DIMM slots. That's way more than most people need, though if you plan on using the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580M discrete GPU for anything other than gaming, there are some applicatons where a massive amount of RAM can come in handy.

You can configure the GT685 with up to two storage drives -- 1.5GB/1TB/640GB 7200 RPM, Intel SSD optional -- with RAID 0 support. It has a Blu-ray reader, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, multi-memory card reader, Wireless-N, GbE LAN, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, HDMI, VGA, 2.1 channel speakers with THX TruStudio Pro, Windows 7 Home/Professional/Ultimate, and a 9-cell battery.
