HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition Laptop Specifications and Pictures
HP has announced a upgrade to its long-standing dm4 line, integrating the sexy Beats Audio technology into its laptops. In addition, HP is creating a special dm4 Beats Edition.
The dm4 will feature the same 1-inch thick, 14-inch chassis we've come to recognize on store shelves in the recent months. It's also keeping with the same dark umber or steel grey aluminum color options with the option of a backlit keyboard. The entire chassis is likely weigh just under 4.5 pounds and offer up to at least seven hours of battery life. If recent models are any indication, one of our review units, the dm4-2180us (55Wh), lasted seven hours, 50 minutes on our MobileMark 2007 battery test.
Internally, the dm4 will feature the latest Intel Core i-series of processors and have the option of adding an AMD Radeon HD discrete graphics chip. The major component upgrade in the dm4 line is the subwoofer, which will support the additional bass the Beats Audio software will add to your listening experience. The Beats Audio software will also help improve bass performance in headphones.
The dm4 Beats Edition has the same form factor as the regular dm4, only with a red and black theme—Beats Audio's school colors if you will. The keyboard is also backlit red instead of white. The chassis is made of aluminum, but the palm rest will have a smooth soft-touch rubberized surface. HP is also selling a pair of Solo HD headphones as an optional bundle.
The HP Pavilion dm4 has a starting price of $699.99 and dm4 Beats Edition has a starting price of $899.99. Both systems are slated for release in the U.S. on Dec. 18.
