AMD has today expanded its professional GPU offering through the release of the FirePro V4900, an entry-level card targeting Digital Content Creation (DCC) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) professionals.

This new FirePro model features a single-slot design, is actively cooled and has 480 Stream Processors, an 128-bit memory interface, 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, a dual-link DVI output, two DisplayPort 1.2 connectors, and support for up six monitors (via the Eyefinity technology).

"The AMD FirePro V4900 stands in a league of its own and redefines entry-level professional graphics card capabilities," says Sandeep Gupte, general manager of Professional Graphics, AMD. "The AMD FirePro V4900 leverages AMD's most advanced graphics technology, which not only enhances user experience and boosts performance of professional applications, but also features AMD Eyefinity multi-display technology that supports up to six displays, increasing user productivity."

The FirePro V4900 will be available within Dell and Fujitsu systems and HP workstations, and is sold as a standalone product for $189.
