Geneva Lab has been well-known for its speaker docks for the iPod and iPhone that come in various sizes. The speakers are known by clothing size measurements starting with the S and ending with the XXL, which is a massive home theater speaker system that's built into an A/V cabinet.

Now there's a new portable member to the family called the XS, which is a foldable Bluetooth speaker system that comes with a built-in clock and FM radio.

The Geneva Sound System Model XS--that looks somewhat like a Nintendo 3DS when closed--has some interesting specification. What stood out for us was the promise of bass that extends to 80Hz, which may not sound very deep to hi-fi enthusiasts but will be quite impressive for a portable speaker system. The XS also works as a clock radio and its integrated rechargeable battery is rated to last seven days in clock mode, and 5 hours when playing back music via Bluetooth.

Compatible with any Bluetooth A2DP device, the Geneva XS will sell at S$299 (US$229) in Singapore from mid-October. In Asia, Geneva Lab also has distributors in Malaysia, South Korea and Japan.
