Samsung has officially released its new Galaxy Mini 2 S6500 smartphone in Germany – which seems to be the first European market to get it.

Announced just a few weeks ago alongside the Galaxy Ace 2, the Galaxy Mini 2 builds on the success of the Galaxy Mini S5570 (introduced in early 2011), and brings several enhanced features. The new Mini comes with a 3.27 inch HVGA display, NFC, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 512MB of RAM, 800MHz processor, 4GB of storage space, and a 3MP rear camera. The handset runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and you shouldn’t expect it to be updated to Android 4.0 ICS, because it won’t happen.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Mini 2 will retail for €279 in Germany. But we shouldn’t forget that Samsung’s official prices for the German market are generally higher than the prices set for other countries. As proof: the Galaxy Mini 2 is about to be released in the UK, too, where it will cost around £179.95 (€216) SIM-free.
