Maingear has taken the wraps off what it is calling the world’s first upgradeable all-in-one PC. While the device is bulkier than most of its all-in-one competition, unlike its competition, the Maingear Solo 21 can be specified with a Thin Mini-ITX motherboard that will also users to upgrade to future Intel chips that will be built on a 22nm process. It centers on its namesake 1080p 21-inch monitor that can also be configured with an optional 10-point multi-touch display.

The stock configuration of the Solo 21 includes a 3.3GHz Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and a hybrid 500GB spinning platter and 32GB SSD combination. However, users can up-spec the desktop to Core i5 or Core i7 processors, add up to 16GB of RAM and include a hard drive up to 2TB. Two USB 3.0 ports are included as well as two fast-charging USB 2.0 ports.

The Solo 21 comes with two 5W stereo speakers built-in as well as a 1.3-megapixel webcam. A DVD burner is also included as is a 6-in-1 media card reader, while it includes a 64-bit install of Windows 7. The Maingear Solo 21 starts from $999 and is available in a wide-range of hand-painted colors.
