Acer Aspire One V5 Ultra-thin Notebook Pictures

Acer has a new thin and light laptop in the works that’s more netbook than ultrabook. While the company introduced a new line of premium ultrabooks at CeBIT in Germany today, Acer is also introducing the new V5 Series and V3 Series mainstream notebooks, including a new ultraportable model.

The Aspire Aspire V3 Series laptops will come in 14, 15.6, and 17.3 inch sizes. They’ll be available with Intel Core i-series processors and NVIDIA GeForce graphics.

Meanwhile, the Aspire V5 notebooks will be available with 11.6 inch, 14 inch, and 15 inch displays. The larger models will have NVIDIA graphics and Intel Core family graphics, while Netbook News reports that the smallest laptop of the bunch will be branded as the Acer Aspire One V5. Normally the Aspire One name is reserved for netbooks, but this model packs a little more punch than a typical netbook.

The Acer Aspire One V5 will be available with an Intel Celeron or Pentium chip instead of the usual low-power Atom processor. Unfortunately it won’t have the discrete graphics available for the larger laptops.

Engadget reports the 11.6 inch laptop is less than 0.6 inches thick, making it a potential ultrabook competitor… albeit one without the powerful processor or solid state disk you’d get from a true ultrabook.

The Acer Aspire V5 series notebooks are expected to ship in the second quarter of 2012. I haven’t seen a launch date for the V3 series laptops yet.
