NuForce Air DAC Wireless System Specifications and Pictures
For the most part wirelessly streaming tunes to a pair a speakers is a non-issue these days. That is assuming you’ve got an iPhone and an Airport Express. But for those of you seeking a wireless audio experience in a world not ruled by the vision of Steve Jobs can look to NuForce.
Today the company announced the availability of their Air DAC wireless system, which is composed of two transmitters (either the NuForce iTX dongle for Apple iOS devices or uTX USB dongle for computers) and the Air DAC receiver. NuForce promises CD quality wireless sound, though we’re a tad dubious and the range of the system maxes out at 15-30 meters – the variability is probably dependent upon what you have standing in your way (e.g. walls, TVs, etc). Each transmitter is capable of sending a single to up to 4 receivers simultaneously, provided of course they’re in range. That said, you could ostensibly walk from room to room and never lose your tunes.
No app is needed to use NuForce’s Air DAC. The uTX USB dongle will cost $59, the 30-pin iTX dongle $79 and the receiver will sell for $149. Nuforce offers a set of packages that include both at a discount for about $20-30 depending on which transmitter you choose.
NuForce hasn’t said when their Air DAC will hit retail shelves, but in our opinion they’re too late to the party on this one, especially with options such as Sonos and Apple’s Airport Express.
