Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera Specifications and Pictures
Speculation about a new Nikon D3200 is now starting to intensify, with suggestions that a new beginner DSLR will be available very soon.
Rumours started when a D3200 book appeared on Amazon. This isn't particularly unusual in itself, but given the book already had a price and the ability to pre-order it, this suggests that it is more than just a placeholder.
Since then, several specs rumours have also started to creep in. It is thought that the camera will have a 24.2 million pixel sensor.
The current beginner DSLR in the company's range, the Nikon D3100, features a 14.2 million pixel sensor, so the suggested increase in pixel count would be quite a jump.
However, we also saw a similar jump between the D700 and the D800 semi-pro cameras and technology in higher end cameras usually trickles down throughout a company's SLR range. A manufacturer's entry-level SLR is also usually its most important model as it attracts novices to the brand.
Other rumoured specs include in-camera functions for editing and retouching photos.
The D3100 features 720p video recording, which competes well against the Canon 1100D which also has 720p. However, for the D3200, perhaps the company, which is keen to push its video credentials will upgrade to full 1080p.
One rumour suggests that the camera will either be announced or released in April 2012.
With Nikon already releasing two DSLRs this year, it does seem fairly likely that the company would want to continue the momentum. Especially considering that the Nikon D3100 was the biggest selling DSLR in Europe and Japan in 2011.
The D3100 was announced in August 2010, 11 months after the D3000 was unveiled, which suggests that the D3200 is overdue. However, these previous camera announcements were made in July and August, so perhaps Nikon will keep us waiting until the summer.
Keep following for more information any Nikon D3200 release date as and when it happens.
