Meridian M6 Digital Active Loudpeaker Specifications and Pictures
UK-based audio company Meridian launched a brand new pair of active loudspeakers at CES 2012 called the M6. These oddly shaped speakers have a tapered top-portion that houses a cool blue ring of light when powered.
Inside, you'll find Meridian's renowned DSP (digital signal processing) technologies and a built-in digital amplifier. Also, while you can't see it from the picture, the M6 has individual housings in each speaker channel for the low-frequency and full-range (or what Meridian calls wide-range) drivers. The cylindrical shape also helps make sound omnidirectional to help make these speakers easier to place.
These speakers are meant to be paired with the company's Core Audio 200 receiver unit, which has an inbuilt reference CD player, a range of digital and analog inputs as well as the option to connect a proprietary i80 iPod/iPhone dock. No additional amplifier is required in the typical Meridian setup which means you'll enjoy a high-end audio system with minimal cable clutter.
The M6 will sell for US$9,000 a pair and be available in February. No word yet on availability in Asia.
