Liquid Image Ego Underwater Camera Specifications and Pictures
Looks like Liquid Image brought a certain new camera to the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, one dubbed Ego and aimed for underwater use.
The Ego camera is reportedly intended for athletes and was invented as the latest addition to the line of underwater electronic equipment from Liquid Image.
The newcomer can be mounted to both vehicles and rigs via a tripod thread at the bottom and is waterproof at under 10 feet (3 meters).
Various other mount accessories are in the pipeline, but they have yet to be announced.
The features and extras that were revealed, though, are impressive all on their own.
For one, built-in storage is not provided, but the Ego does ship with a 4GB memory card and it is possible to replace it with another, of up to 32GB.
Secondly, the camera boasts on-board Wi-Fi, meaning that people can use a smartphone or computer to connect to it remotely and act as a viewfinder.
Furthermore, the camera's settings can be controlled via the special app.
On-device control is possible as well, via two buttons and a small LCD screen.
Moving on, Full HD media (1,080p video) can be recorded at 30fps, while HD content (720p) can be shot at 60fps.
The 136-degree lens can also serve for continuous shooting of high-quality photos.
Finally, Liquid Image tossed in a GPS radio, which will allow the photos to be geotagged (longitude and latitude coordinates).
Besides the Ego camera, two goggle cameras were introduced, those being the Xtreme Sport Apex HD (for skiers and snowboarders) and the Torque HD (for dirt bikers, mountain bikers and ATV riders).
The Ego underwater camera will ship in June for $150 (117.45 Euro), alongside the Torque HD ($400/313 Euro). The Apex HD will only arrive in October, for the same tag as the Torque.
