Liquid Image, whose first product was an underwater mask with an integrated camera, has now expanded its range to include a new small Ego cam. We stopped by the company's booth at CES to have a look, and liked the very small size. Aimed at extreme athletes, the 1080p camera has tripod thread at the bottom for mounting it to various vehicles or rigs.

There is Wi-Fi onboard, allowing users to user their smartphones and computers as a viewfinder. The apps also allow control over the camera's settings. Two buttons and a small LCD screen allow for on-device control, which is a nice touch, as users can easily and quickly see the progress of their recording.

Mount accessories to be announced later will also ship alongside the Ego. A GPS radio will geotag photos.

Users can record 1080p video at 30fps or 720p at 60fps. There is a 12-megapixel photo capture mode as well and a continuous shooting mode. The lens is a 136-degree wide degree unit. The camera is waterproof up to 10 feet and a waterproof housing is being readied.

There is no onboard memory, but a 4GB microSDHC memory card is included and cards up to 32GB are supported. The integrated battery is said to provide up to two hours of life.

The camera is said to ship in June for $150.

Two new goggle cameras have also been introduced at CES in the Xtreme Sport Cams series with the Apex HD for skiers and snowboarders and the Torque HD for dirtbikers, ATV riders or mountain bikers. The cameras in either share the same technical specs as the Ego. They get adjustable lens angles and a wireless remote, however, along with strap-mounted buttons. The Apex HD goggles ship in October for $400, and the Torque HD goggles arrive in June for the same price.
