YouTube Officially Launches Its New Homepage Design
A little over a week ago we reported that YouTube was testing a revamped design. Today they’ve made the new design official, and they’ve launched a video to show off the new features. According to the YouTube blog, “this new design [is] focused on helping you discover a broader range of entertainment on YouTube.”
With the new design, based on the experimental Cosmic Panda design the site launched back in July, users can easily discover content that they are subscribed to on the homepage. Click through the channels that you are subscribed to via the navigation bar on the left to see the latest activity, from new videos to comments and likes. You can also connect with Google+ and Facebook to find out which videos your friends are sharing on their favorite social networks, check out popular and trending channels from YouTube and more.
YouTube has launched an easier way to discover channels related to your favorite interests so you can discover popular videos about sports, dance, make-up, science, movies and more. When you subscribe to new channels they will appear on your homepage.
Along with the new homepage design, YouTube has also launched an improved Channel design that focuses on helping users find great videos. They explain, “As different uploaders have different goals, we’ve created new Channel templates to meet your needs whether you produce one video a week or have thousands of videos for a fan to browse.”
YouTube’s new look is already “shipped and waiting for you at YouTube.com,” according to the blog. However, my homepage still looks the same as always. I also don’t see any content on the instruction manual link that they provided, but I assume it will become available shortly. Can you see the new homepage design yet? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
