In Netherlands, the Samsung Galaxy Xtreme S5690 has just launched and comes in an ‘orange black’ variant. This Samsung handset is a rugged Android smartphone that meets IP67 certified for dirt, dust, and waterproof.

In the UK, the rugged Samsung Galaxy Xcover S5690 will be released in early January (initial plan is last/this month).

Handtec, the British retailer, is offering the Samsung Galaxy Xcover Extreme S5690 smartphone for £224.39 (about $348 / €267) on SIM Free / Unlocked version.

New Samsung Galaxy Xtreme aka Galaxy Xcover Extreme is boasts an 800MHz Marvell MG2 processor, 512MB of RAM, 150MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

Samsung Galaxy Xtreme S5690 rugged handset packs a 3.6-inch multi-touch Gorilla Glass display with HVGA (320 x 480) resolution, a 3.2MP autofocus camera with LED flash, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, HSDPA, and Stereo FM Radio with RDS. Dimensions of Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover Extreme are 122 x 66 x 12 mm and weighs 116 grams.
