HP X5000 Wireless Mouse Specifications and Pictures
HP has released two wireless office mice just in time for the holidays, the X5000 and X4000 Laser Mouse.
Both models feature a similar 1.52 by 2.64 by 4.21 inch (HWD) design with glossy plastic tops and rubberized sizes. However, the X5000's glossy plastic top has a graphite color and features a touch scroll function much like the Microsoft Explorer Touch, and the X4000 has a glossy black plastic top and features a regular scroll wheel. Both mice connect to your PC via a nano receiver that you jack into a USB port on your computer for communication over a standard 2.4-GHz wireless frequency. These USB receivers feature HP's Link-5 technology, which allows you to pair up to five compatible HP devices to one USB receiver. There's about a 30-foot range until the mouse will lose the signal.
The X4000 boasts a battery life of up to 30 months, while the X5000 claims to last 24 months on two AA batteries. Both mice have a maximum mouse sensitivity of 1,600dpi, which is standard for most mice intended for office and day-to-day use. For gaming purposes, you'll probably want to look into a mouse that has something more in the range of 6,000dpi, like the Razer Mamba (2012).
The X4000 and X5000 are currently available on HP's Web site. The X4000 has a listed price of $29.99 and X5000 has a listed price of $39.99.
