AT&T Huawei Fusion Specifications and Pictures
Back in August, we saw yet another Huawei Android make an appearance at the FCC. Identified as the U8652 Sonic, the phone packed AT&T-compatible frequency support. We got a couple nice looks at the hardware inside at the time, but today we get the chance to finally get an external view of what appears to be the very same phone, all decked-out in its AT&T livery.
When we first looked at the U8652, we mentioned hearing about the phone also showing up at the FCC for T-Mobile as the Sonic, but with an unfamiliar model number. While the carrier has adopted the Sonic name, it turns out that's some very different hardware; it's actually an HSPA+ wireless hotspot rather than an Android.
Does that mean that the U8652 won't arrive on AT&T as the Sonic? We can't say for sure just yet, but other than Sonic, the FCC docs also refer to the phone as the Sapphire, so that's another option to keep in mind.
The original Huawei Sonic is model U8650, suggesting the only change we're looking at here is the cellular radio. With the rest of the hardware staying the same, this AT&T model should be powered by a 600MHz processor with 256MB RAM, have a 3.5-inch HVGA display, feature a 3.2-megapixel camera, and arrive running Gingerbread.
Update: Reader FoneFan notes this phone has landed as a prepaid model. As such, it's taken the name AT&T Fusion.
