True audiophiles are constantly in lookout for right speakers that not only produce great sound but also adds to the luxury quotient in their household. To craft such speakers an Ann Arbor based company Audiomasons Design Works has designed high fidelity speakers carved out of solid blocks of stone.

The speakers are designed by the 22 year old Vince Alessi in quest of creating an environment friendly speaker. Usually, wood or plastic speakers are used which do not create quality sound. However, these speakers are made of stone, hence prevent the distortion of sound that is a common problem with other speakers. Another quality of these speakers is that they are far more sustainable than the regular ones. All audiomasons products have a self-cleaning titanium nanoparticle coating, and will never stain or discolor.

The company mainly produces three models namely; Bastion, Comet and Luxs. Bastion is a three way compact flagship speaker for your high-end audio needs. Made of aluminum/titanium drivers to achieve distortion free sound, and the speakers cost around $1750 each. Comet is a two way compact speaker that provides unprecedented clarity and range due to the solid stone housing. The speaker costs $895 per piece. Luxs is a single point audio source that allows for incredible acoustic feel. The speaker has 7 woofer system and costs whooping $1950 per speaker.

The designer Alessi comments

Rock is a uniquely ideal acoustic material. There's the resonance you want, but no ringing like with other types of speakers.
These speakers are typically carved in limestone which is far more expensive than the usual speaker and is becoming a huge hit with the rich audiophiles. The designer has evolved a new production method in which he has joined three pieces of stone together and this special method has cut down the production cost by 70%. The models went on for sale for the first time few days ago. The range starts from $995 to $3,950 depending upon the make of the model. The company hopes the revenue might go up to $225,000 by year end if they succeed to sell 30 pairs each week.

The company also accepts custom order to craft your dream audiophile-grade loudspeakers. And you can choose from pretty much any kind of rock: marble, granite, limestone, travertine, basalt, & more. The custom options also include choice of metal accents, inlay and upholstery. All metal parts can be lined with Itlian Cloth or Goat Skin, availble in of a variety of designer colors.

Besides these rock speakers, we have earlier also told you about concrete speakers designed by an Israeli designer Shmuel Linski.
