LG 42LD6DDH Hospital-grade HDTV Specifications and Pictures
LG Electronics has been a major player in the hospital TV market for quite a fair number of years already, and their latest effort would continue to cement their place in the industry with the introduction of a new 42″ class hospital-grade HDTV, making it the industry’s largest screen size for patient rooms. I would suppose the next time I am about to go under the knife, I had best ask the nurse in charge on whether my recovery ward has LG’s 42LD6DDH LCD hospital TV mounted somewhere for me to watch.
With 42″ of viewing goodness, it will pave the way for larger-sized text and on-screen menus in order to, as LG put it, “better educate and entertain patients”. Not too sure what kind of educating this will do – perhaps it will play boring slideshows on how fatty foods and the lack of exercise are bad for us? Gah, show us some of the latest blockbusters on this puppy already!
According to Ron Snaidauf, vice president, Commercial Displays, LG Electronics USA, “LG’s new 42-inch class health-care HDTV will provide hospitals with a large format display solution for patients who read and navigate on-screen menus and text from near their hospital bed, which can be anywhere from 12 to 15 feet from the footwall-mounted TV. A screen this large allows patients to read text and navigate menus easier than before. It will significantly improve the overall in-patient experience.”
LG has included advanced setup options in this offering of theirs so that one can establish a default start channel and volume level, in addition to minimum and maximum audio levels for a positive, comfortable experience in semi-private patient rooms. There is also a wide viewing angle so that patients, family and visitors can enjoy a detailed, clear picture from virtually anywhere in the room.
To keep in line with the green theme that corporations are taking these days, LG will include “EcoSmart” technology that is capable of reducing power consumption in different ways which will definitely lead to cost savings for hospitals. No idea on pricing just yet as at press time, but you know that hospitals have just gotten a little bit more fun
