Kobo Vox Android e-Book Reader Hits UK Pictures

Following the launch of the Kobo Touch ereader back in October, WHSmith has again teamed up with the Canadian company to bring the Kobo Vox to the UK.

The Kobo Vox was announced across the pond last month as well, but WHSmith quite rightly point out that its arrival on these shores mean that it is the "first widely available touch screen ereader in the UK".

Of course, we all know of another hot Amazon product that it bears similarities too, but that's a Fire that's not yet ready to burn in Britain.

And similar the Kobo Vox is too. It has a 7-inch AFFS+ display and runs its own UI over the top of Android 2.3. It's powered by an 800MHz processor and 512MB of RAM and has 8GB of storage for all your ebooks, videos and music.

There's a built-in speaker and 3.5mm headphone jack, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and a number of pre-loaded apps and access to 15,000 more in the Kobo App Store. It's also the only official ereading partner to Facebook.

Rachel Russell of WHSmith said: "We're really pleased with the way customers have responded to the Kobo ereaders and accessories in our stores and we're delighted to be the first UK retailer to offer customers a product as innovative as the new Kobo Vox".

Priced at £169.99, the Kobo Vox is available now, at WHSmith stores and online.
