Genius has today announced the North American release of the FaceCam 3000, its very first high definition webcam which packs a 3-megapixel sensor and fixed focus lens, and is capable of delivering 1280 x 720 video @ 30 frames per second.

This new webcam includes USB 2.0 connectivity, features a versatile clip base, an Image Protection Mechanism (IPM) which prevents hackers from getting unauthorized access to the camera on Windows PCs, and comes bundled with a headset and the CrazyTalk and Video Easy software enabling real time video chat, desktop sharing and recording video to upload to YouTube or Facebook.

The FaceCam 3000 has a recommended price tag of $59.99.
