Upcoming Onyx Boox i62 e-Reader Specifications and Pictures

Onyx has been in the e-reader game for a number of years and have released a slew of offerings under its extensive Boox line. Today at the Frankfurt Bookfair they announced a new addition to the family, the Boox i62.

The new device features a six inch Pearl e-Ink display with IR Touch, this is the same kind of touchscreen found in the Kobo Touch, Nook Simple Touch and Sony PRS-T1. It has a resolution of 800×600 pixels and displays 16 levels of grey scale.There are 4 GB of internal memory and can be enhanced further via the MicroSD Card.

The new Boox i62 is running a customized version of the Linux OS and supports a littany of ebook formats. You can load in PDF, TXT, HTML, MOBI, EPUB, CHM, PDB, DOC, XLS, and PPT files.

No word on pricing yet or release date but Onyx is a Chinese company and normally produces e-readers that are heavy on aesthetic but light on substance.
