Sony unveiled the 24-inch 3D set earlier this year at E3. The television lets gamers play titles in 3D, but adds a compelling function, called SimulView, which "delivers individual full HD screen visuals to each player in two-player mode." So, if gamers are playing a title in two-player mode, they can see full-screen visuals, eliminating the loss of screen real estate when they play games on other TVs in split screen. SimulView only works when both players are wearing 3D glasses.

At E3, CNET's Dan Ackerman had a chance to go hands-on with Sony's television. Ackerman said that the SimulView feature "worked fine, with no visible ghosting between the two distinct sets of images." However, he didn't have a chance to try out the single-player 3D effect.

It's worth noting that in addition to gaming, owners of the set can also hook up their cable box or DVD or Blu-ray player to use it as a standard television when they're not gaming.

Gamers looking to get their hands on Sony's television will find that the set comes with a pair of the company's 3D glasses, as well as a copy of MotorStorm: Apocalypse. Previously, Sony was offering a copy of Resistance 3 with the television, but that offer ended on October 1. Customers who preordered the TV before that day will still receive Resistance 3, Sony says.
