Clevo X7200 Core i7 Gaming Notebook Specifications and Pictures
A seller of custom high-performance computers AVA Direct now offers a unique system memory option of 24GB in the Clevo X7200 gaming/workstation laptop.
That amount of RAM is big even for enterprise-class multi-CPU servers. It’s enabled using Crucial’s 24GB SODIMM 1333MHz CL9 memory kit, which includes three 8GB modules, populating all three memory slots in the notebook. However, we think that 24GB is an over-kill for gaming and other daily uses, but it could be of help in some memory intensive engineering, design, or multimedia applications, or for virtualization for instance.
RAM is not the only outstanding feature in the 17.3″ Full HD Clevo X7200 desktop replacement laptop. It sports desktop-use Intel Core processors, up to the 3.3GHz i7-975 Extreme Edition, dual and single AMD and Nvidia mobile video card setups – up to the Radeon HD 6990M and GeForce GTX 580M, and support for three 2.5-inch hard drives or solid state drives.
The basic X7200 configuration starts at $2,100 and the 24GB RAM kit instead of base 6GB adds $1,035 to the overall price. But, for use of 24GB you will also have to upgrade the OS from the basic Windows 7 Home Premium to Pro or Ultimate, since the Home edition supports only up to 16GB of RAM. However, Linux fans will be pleased with preload options of various distributions, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, CentOS, Debian, and Fedora. Selection of one of these reduces the price for around $100 over the Win Home Premium and enables use of 24GB.
Besides maximal RAM, if you add to the configuration top-notch components, Windows Ultimate, and a custom chassis painting, you will easily enter into the $10,000+ territory.
