ASUS VX6 Lamborghini Receives Cedar Trail Update Pictures

The Asus Lamborghini line of laptops feature Lamborghini-inspired designs, complete with the luxury vehicle’s crest on the lid. But the 12.1 inch Lamborghini VX6 has never exactly packed much power under the hood. The notebook originally shipped with a 1.8 GHz Intel Atom D525 dual core processor, which is pretty fast by Atom standards… but pretty sluggish by most other standards.

Now Asus is giving the notebook a bit of an update — but the VX6 is still saddled with an Intel Atom processor. The difference is that soon it will come with a 2.13 GHz Intel Atom D2700 Cedar Trail chip.

Netbook Live has the details on the new model, as well as an unboxing video and some photos and benchmark results. In addition to the new desktop-class Atom processor, the new Asus Lamborghini VX6 has an AMD Radeon 6470M graphics card and 4GB of DDR3 memory.

The laptop notched a respectable 3DMark06 score of 3424 and has a Windows Experience Index score of 3.8 — with the processor proving to be the weakest link in the chain.

I’ve always found it odd that Asus chose to use an inexpensive Atom chip in a luxury-themed notebook, but the graphics card certainly seems to give this little guy a boost, while the low power processor should help offer decent battery life.

There’s no word on the price or release date for the new model yet.
