Sony Reader WiFi Now Available For Pre-order Pictures

The Sony Reader WiFi that debuted back in IFA 2011 is now available for pre-order on the Sony website for $149.99! Sony touts it as the “world’s lightest” e-reader at 0.37 pounds – something I don’t really see as a draw, seeing as e-readers in general don’t tend to be heavy devices. The device has a 6-inch touchscreen E-ink display with 2GB of internal memory good for storing 1,200 books. You can expand the storage through a microSD card, too.

Sony put up the pre-order on its site with a release date of October 16. But it changed to October 2 for a short period of time (as you can see on the screenshot below) before going back to the original date. The Sony Reader WiFi’s battery can last 14,000 page turns or a month on a single charge. Available in red, black, and white, the Sony Reader WiFi has built-in Google and Wikipedia search, and can be used to borrow e-books from public libraries where available.
